Showcasing Young Models, Fashion and Confidence on the Runway

Young models ruled the runway Feb. 24 at the Omaha Design Center for the second Kids Rule Fashion Show.

Of course, the venue was in style as well, featuring a V.I.P. lounge, boutiques with a variety of vendors and valet parking.

Ten area designers dressed 138 models in trendy children’s fashion, boosting the confidence of children.

“I like my shirt. I want to wear it to school,” said Colton Wray, showing off his outfit from the “Beach Boys” collection. He is the son of Junior League Active Member Karrie Wray.

More than 300 parents, friends and supporters attended the two shows, cheering on models ages 5 to 12.

“I liked going in front of the audience and wearing the pretty dress,” said Laini Michaelis, daughter of Active Member Maria Michaelis.

Maria’s other daughter, Leyton, also enjoyed her opportunity to shine: “I liked when people watched me go down the runway. I also liked doing it with my sister.”

The pair showcased pieces from the “Glitter & Lace” collection, one of several dressing the models.

The event’s success was made possible thanks to dedication from the Kids Rule Fashion Show’s 14-member committee and partnership with Omaha Fashion Week.

A special thank you to the 70 League non-committee members who volunteered more than 210 hours.

This year’s three raffle items and 16 silent auction packages contributed to the fundraising efforts. These funds, along with the rest of the proceeds, raised more than $6,000 for the League and its projects.

Unfortunately, this will be the last Kids Rule Fashion Show, but the memories and confidence built from these experiences will live on in the hearts of all the children who walked the runway. Plus, the young superstars got to keep their fabulous fashions!
